What Jake hauls
If it came out of the yard and won't fit in your cart, Jake can load it up.
- Tree branches and limbs.
- Leaves and grass clippings.
- Garden and landscaping debris.
Where curbside yard waste stops
Most local programs only take yard waste that fits inside the cart:
- In Oakdale, yard waste shares the recycling toter, and anything that doesn't fit isn't picked up. Riverbank requires branches to fit inside the can.
- The county bulky program in unincorporated areas doesn't take yard waste at all.
- Ceres (October 1 to January 9) and Turlock (November 2 to February 5) run seasonal leaf pickups, with limits on what goes out.
Hauling it yourself? Here's where it goes
If you have a truck, Gilton takes yard waste by the load:
Gilton Resource Recovery
800 S. McClure Rd, Modesto · (209) 527-3781 · Mon–Fri 7:30–4, Sat–Sun 7–4:30. From July 1, 2026: $45 for a load of yard waste.
Free compost in Ceres
Once the old growth is gone, the City of Ceres offers free compost and mulch at River Bluff Regional Park.
When it makes sense to call Jake
When the pile would take weeks to fit in your cart, when it's a whole tree's worth of limbs, or when you don't have a truck. Jake and his crew load it, priced by the cubic yard and usually within the week.
When calling Jake is the wrong call
If it's leaves in season and you live in Ceres or Turlock, put them out for the city's leaf pickup. If it's a bag or two over, it can wait for next week's cart.
