Junk removal in Riverbank

Riverbank is next door to Jake's home base in Oakdale. Here's what your garbage service already does for free, where it stops, and where to take a load yourself.

Covers ZIP 95367: Riverbank.

What your Riverbank garbage service already covers

Riverbank's trash, recycling and yard waste are collected by Gilton Solid Waste.

  • Two bulky item pickups a year at no charge, by appointment. Call Gilton at (209) 527-3781.
  • Yard waste, food scraps and paper go in the gray-and-green can. Branches and Christmas trees have to fit inside it.
  • Stanislaus County held household hazardous waste days in Riverbank on April 11 and September 19, 2026.

Where it runs out

Two free pickups a year sounds generous until you read what they won't take.

  • No tires, construction debris, concrete, yard waste, glass, mirrors, TVs, monitors, paint or oil.
  • Wood is capped at 10 pieces, so an old fence or a torn-out deck won't qualify.
  • Items go out on the street from 6 pm the night before, so everything has to be carried out to the curb first.

Hauling it yourself? Here's where it goes

If you have a truck and the time, self-hauling is the cheapest option. These two take loads from Riverbank:

Gilton Resource Recovery, Modesto

800 S. McClure Rd · (209) 527-3781 · Mon–Fri 7:30–4, Sat–Sun 7–4:30. From July 1, 2026: $30 a car load, $50 a pickup or SUV, $20 per mattress, $45 per fridge.

Fink Road Landfill, Crows Landing

4000 Fink Rd · (209) 837-4800 · Mon–Sat 8–4. Electronics are free. No paint, oil, liquids, batteries or fluorescent bulbs. All county garbage has gone here since late 2024.

When it makes sense to call Jake

When it's construction debris, a fence, an old TV or a garage full of mixed stuff the bulky program won't take, or when you've used your two pickups. Jake and his crew carry it out and load it, priced by the cubic yard and usually within the week. Anything that still works gets donated.

When calling Jake is the wrong call

If it's a couch or a dresser and you haven't used this year's two free Gilton pickups, book those first. Paint, oil and chemicals belong at a county hazardous waste day.

Checked October 2026 against the City of Riverbank, Gilton Solid Waste and Stanislaus County websites. Rules, dates and prices change, so confirm with the operator before you go.
