Junk removal in Escalon
Escalon is across the county line in San Joaquin County, with different rules and different dumps from the Stanislaus towns. Here's what your service covers and where it stops.
Covers ZIP 95320: Escalon.
What your Escalon garbage service already covers
Gilton Solid Waste collects Escalon's garbage, and the city's service includes more free pickups than most towns get.
- Two free bulky item pickups a year. Book with Gilton at (209) 527-3781.
- Four free e-waste pickups and two free old-style (tube) TV or monitor pickups a year.
- Bulky and e-waste pickups are both booked by phone with Gilton.
Where it runs out
Even with extra pickups, there are limits.
- Two bulky pickups a year won't cover a full garage or a move-out.
- Gilton sets the size and item limits for each pickup, so call before you pile things at the curb.
- The nearest San Joaquin landfill, Foothill in Linden, stopped taking public loads on January 10, 2026.
Hauling it yourself? Here's where it goes
With Foothill closed, these are the closest places to self-haul:
Lovelace Transfer Station, Manteca
2323 E. Lovelace Rd · (209) 982-5770 · Daily 7–4. Card or business check only. San Joaquin County residents can drop off a limited number of mattresses, appliances, tires and TVs free. Call for current per-ton rates.
Gilton Resource Recovery, Modesto
800 S. McClure Rd · (209) 527-3781 · Mon–Fri 7:30–4, Sat–Sun 7–4:30. From July 1, 2026: $30 a car load, $50 a pickup or SUV, $20 per mattress, $45 per fridge.
When it makes sense to call Jake
When it's construction debris, yard waste, a fence or more than the pickup limits, or when the drive to Manteca isn't worth your Saturday. Jake and his crew carry it out and load it, priced by the cubic yard and usually within the week. Anything that still works gets donated.
When calling Jake is the wrong call
If it's electronics or an old tube TV, Gilton will collect it free under Escalon's service. For a single piece of furniture, use one of your two bulky pickups first.
