Junk removal in Farmington

Farmington is unincorporated San Joaquin County, and even its garbage company depends on which side of town you're on. Here's what applies and where to take a load yourself.

Covers ZIP 95230: Farmington.

What Farmington's garbage service already covers

San Joaquin County assigns garbage haulers by area. Central Farmington falls in Gilton's area, while addresses toward the west edge of the ZIP fall in Waste Management's.

  • Bulky pickup terms come from your hauler, not the county, so call the number on your bill to see what you get.
  • County transfer stations take up to 10 mattresses per load free from residents, as long as they aren't wet, soiled or infested.
  • San Joaquin's household hazardous waste facility in Stockton is open Thursday to Sunday, 9 to 3.

Where it runs out

Farmington is a long way from most disposal options.

  • Foothill Landfill in Linden, the closest county landfill, stopped taking public loads on January 10, 2026.
  • That leaves Lovelace in Manteca or the North County Landfill in Lodi, both a real drive with a loaded trailer.
  • Rural properties tend to collect barns and sheds full of things no curbside program will take.

Hauling it yourself? Here's where it goes

With Foothill closed, these are the options:

Lovelace Transfer Station, Manteca

2323 E. Lovelace Rd · (209) 982-5770 · Daily 7–4. Card or business check only. San Joaquin County residents can drop off a limited number of mattresses, appliances, tires and TVs free. Call for current per-ton rates.

North County Landfill, Lodi

17720 E. Harney Ln · (209) 887-3868 · Daily 7–4. San Joaquin County's recycling center and landfill for the north of the county.

When it makes sense to call Jake

When it's a barn, shed or outbuilding to clear, a pile too big for a pickup truck, or a load you'd rather not drive to Manteca. Jake and his crew carry it out and load it, priced by the cubic yard and usually within the week. Anything that still works gets donated.

When calling Jake is the wrong call

If it's a few mattresses, appliances, tires or TVs and you can get them to Lovelace yourself, county residents can drop a limited number off free.

Checked October 2026 against San Joaquin County Public Works and its refuse service area map. Rules, dates and prices change, so confirm with the operator before you go.
