What Jake takes down
Small backyard structures, from the first board off to the last load out.
- Sheds and storage buildings.
- Gazebos and pergolas.
- Small decks and fences.
Before demolition day
A little prep keeps the job quick:
- Empty the shed, or tell Jake what's inside so it can go in the same trip.
- Have any power to the structure shut off and disconnected first.
- Text photos from a couple of angles so Jake can see the size and how it's built.
Taking it down yourself?
The pieces still have to go somewhere, and curbside pickup won't help:
Curbside limits
Bulky pickups cap wood at around 10 pieces where they take it at all. Waterford excludes fencing and treated wood, and the county program takes no wood.
Self-hauling the debris
Gilton Resource Recovery, 800 S. McClure Rd, Modesto, takes mixed loads at $82.50 a ton with a $50 minimum from July 1, 2026. A shed is usually several truckloads.
When it makes sense to call Jake
When you want it down and gone in one visit, without renting a dumpster or making several trips to the transfer station. Jake and his crew take it apart and load it, priced by the cubic yard and usually within the week.
When calling Jake is the wrong call
Larger buildings, anything plumbed or wired into the house, and work that needs a permit are a job for a licensed contractor. Older structures may contain asbestos and need testing first: Fink Road Landfill won't accept friable asbestos.
