What Jake hauls
Heavy appliances are awkward to move through doorways and down steps. Jake and his crew do the lifting.
- Refrigerators and freezers.
- Washers, dryers, ovens and stoves.
- Dishwashers and microwaves.
What curbside pickup asks of you
Most local bulky pickup programs will take an appliance, but with conditions:
- Unincorporated Stanislaus County's program wants appliance doors removed and at least two weeks' notice.
- In Ceres, a refrigerator has to be emptied with the doors removed before pickup.
- Pickup is curbside only, so you still have to get it out to the street yourself.
Hauling it yourself? Here's where it goes
If you can get it into a truck, both nearby transfer stations take appliances for a fee:

Bertolotti Transfer Station, Ceres
231 Flamingo Dr · (209) 537-4147 · Open Mon–Sat, call for hours. Appliances and TVs $25 each plus weight.
When it makes sense to call Jake
When it's upstairs or behind a tight doorway, when it's more than one appliance, or when you'd rather not take the doors off a fridge yourself. Jake and his crew carry it out and load it, priced by the cubic yard and usually within the week. Appliances that still work get donated.
When calling Jake is the wrong call
If it's a single appliance, you still have a free bulky pickup this year and you can get it to the curb, use the pickup. Your town's page below lists what your garbage company offers.
